Yulia Navalnaya has announced the creation of the Alexei Navalny Award, a new annual prize dedicated to young politicians launching bold grassroots initiatives. This award will recognize those who fight for democracy, challenge corruption, and advocate for justice—just as Navalny did throughout his life.
16.02.2025 — New Moscow — The prize will be presented every year on June 4, Navalny’s birthday. According to Yulia Navalnaya, its purpose is to support those who carry on his legacy and refuse to stay silent in the face of injustice. She highlighted one of Navalny’s earliest and most influential projects—RosPil, which exposed corruption in Russia’s government contracts.
“I feel that grassroots initiatives are often overlooked. They struggle to survive. Every year, on Alexei’s birthday, I want to honor those who continue his fight,” Navalnaya said at a memorial event in Berlin.
The first award is expected to be presented in 2025.
Alexei Navalny became a global symbol of resistance against corruption and authoritarian rule. His work inspired thousands, and his tragic death sparked protests worldwide. Despite severe crackdowns, people across Russia and beyond continue to honor his name.
Recent memorial gatherings showed that Navalny’s influence remains strong. Even under the threat of arrests, many came to lay flowers and express solidarity with his cause.
Establishing this award is more than just a tribute—it’s a step toward empowering the next generation of leaders. The young politicians who receive this honor will carry forward the fight for fair elections, human rights, and freedom of speech.
At a time when civil society faces growing repression, the Alexei Navalny Award serves as a powerful reminder that his ideas live on—and that the struggle for justice is far from over.
